My Friend Turkey

from A Faulty Wiring by Chris Kelsey

/

about

Not long ago I came across an interview I'd done with the blogger Scott Hreha in which I said, "Time and again I return to the trio format-usually sax, bass and drums-because it seems to best fit the way I think and fell about jazz".My trio at the time comprised myself, bassist Francois Grillot and drummer Jay Rosen. The group on A Faulty Wiring is different: the bassist is Phil Sirois; the drummer, Tom Cabrera. Music made by both groups maintains it's own character. What remains consistent is the format. While I continue to enjoy making music with pianists, drummer, guitarists, or other horn players, I'll never stop returning to the sax, bass, drums lineup. It's essential to who I am as a musician.

Thanks to Phil and Tom, as well as producer Jack DeSalvo and engineer Larry Hutter for their contributions to this album.
